LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM

The KP-SADP is a multifaceted initiative of Govt. of KP for recovery, rehabilitation and quick uplift of the three least developed and crisis affected districts of Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa i.e. DI Khan, Tank and Lakki Marwat. The project is financed by Multi Donor Trust Fund World Bank (MDTF-WB) with a cost of Rs.2304.059 (M) equal to US$ 22.00 million. The project is operational in 25 union councils of three project districts.

The underlying objective of the project is to improve livelihoods of communities and their access to basic service infrastructure in the selected districts of KP. The project aims at improving the well-being of unserved and underserved low income communities in three districts of KP namely DI Khan, Lakki and Tank with the involvement of all relevant stakeholders to re-establish their livelihood.

Under the livelihood component, so far the project has provided crop nutrients to 132 farmers, helped ultra poor through provision of 370 beetal goats/bucks and arranged youth internship program for 22 internees during the year 2014-015 followed by another lot of 37 internees during the year 2016-17. Currently a lot of 30 internees is under internship with the project from all the three target districts of the project. Similarly, project has provided skill training opportunities through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Institute of Technical Education (KITE) Peshawar to 115 youth in the project area covering different trades (Mobile phone repair, motor cycle mechanic, AC and refrigeration, UPS mechanics and tailoring). Moreover, the project established 17 Vocational Training Centers in DI Khan and Tank and trained 170 female youth in tailoring (sewing, cutting of cloths.). Recently 12 Vocational Training Programs were established in DI Khan for female covering three training areas namely Traditional Birth Attendant, Beautician and tailoring. This has to be followed by establishment of 8 VTPs in Lakki Marwat and 4 VTPs in Tank. The livelihood. The project has recently completed consultancy on Livelihood Study and Designing of Livelihood Framework for the project districts.

 

 

Highlights

The street pavement work of brick-soling is in-progress in village Kotka Imam Din, Union Council Marmandi Aazim, District Lakki Marwat. Male Community Based Organization (MCBO) Falah Behbood Amman is engaged in this scheme with the technical & financial assistance of KP-SADP.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Southern Area Development Project (KP-SADP) conducted "Fund Admin & Contract Management Training" for community capacity building of district DIKhan in which total 120 members of 30 Community Based Organization (CBOs) participated.
